Board Shop: Longboards - Longboard Trucks Need more info?
The trucks on your longboard are very important. The good news is that many cheaper truck companies copied the tried and true design of the Randal reverse kingpin trucks so chances are, the quality should be ok. Many new longboard truck companies have arisen in the last couple years and it seems we see a new one pop up every time we pick up Concrete wave magazine. Most of the truck companies have taken Randal's original design and tweaked it just a bit. Round out the angles like Paris, Beef up the hangers like Gulwing or changing the footprint of the base plate and adding some curves to the hanger like Bear. These are minor changes that can add stability and strength or change the riding characteristics. We are not putting down all longboard truck companies other than Randal; the evolution of the truck is a necessary progression and one we like to follow. Our favorite new longboard truck company is Navigator trucks. Not only do they look kick ass, they can handle much abuse. The Navigator's coupled with your favorite drop through board can be a match made in heaven. They do have a taller profile than most and are a couple ounces heavier than most, we think these are insignificant and will be riding the navigators for some time. Thanks for stopping by!
