| | Longboards - Complete Longboards - Loaded Longboards | | Loaded longboards is arguably the best longboard company on the planet. Loaded uses bamboo for its boards and don't use any maple. Loaded longboards like the dervish and vanguard are the best selling freeride longboards in the world and for good reason. Loaded has been around since the 90's and have progressively pushed the sport of longboarding into the forefront with high end longboards and brilliant marketing. If you're on the fence about what brand to buy, just remember, you cannot go wrong with a loaded longboard. Loaded is also very active in the community and sponsors many events including races, slide jams and charity functions across the nation. With Loaded's Ambassador program they have helped build the longboard industry to the ever growing behemoth it is today. Beginning in early 1995, trying to mimic the rush of snowboarding on pavement, Loaded's shortboards got less and less play time while they experimented with more stable wheelbases, any funky truck they could get their hands on, and pretty much any material they could put trucks on. All sorts of shapes of Baltic birch plies, solid wood, modified shortboards, and various other objects became projectiles to careen down local hills with. Looking for a lively and precisely tuned and responsive ride, old snowboards soon found themselves reincarnated with trucks and wheels attached and awaiting more brutal methods of destruction. They played (and continue to play) with almost every board and truck available and took courses in composite and material technologies, continuing on with our quest to build a lively board capable of skating bigger hills with enhanced control. September 2000 through June 2002 was dedicated to developing these boards at Loaded. It was challenging. They enlisted and ended up frustrating many of the greatest minds in skate-boarding and snowboarding. Determining and testing the materials was a full time job. Trying to get the wood and fiberglass to conform to compound contours was an affront to physics and they got sick of hearing that it couldn't be done with curvatures as pronounced as they wanted. But done it was, and the first ride made it clear that it should be done. Loaded has continued to be at the forefront of the industry introducing legendary boards including the Dervish and most recently the updated Dervish Sama. They've also developed the Tan Tien which is similar to the new Dervish Sama, the Fattail and Bhangra. Loaded has continually been voted the best longboard company by concrete wave magazine for good reason. Loaded has always seemed able to tap into a longboarders consciousness and deliver your inner most desires. We remember the first day the Dervish arrived in the shop back in 2007. There was so much excitement about this board and they disappeared almost instantly after many riders took it out to our parking lot and had a blast. Loaded longboards are one of our favorites and will continue to push these boards for many moons to come. | | | | | | | Longboards - Complete Longboards - Jet Longboards | | Jet longboards were released in 2001 with a great lineup of downhill and freeride longboards. The Kahuna Big Stick will give you ultimate control, superb braking capabilities, as well as an upper-body workout, all while enjoying the sweetest ride on land. Kahuna Creations brands itself with the their own custom board flag that is based on the Kanaka Maoli, or "Native Hawaiian" flag, which is believed to be Kamehameha's personal flag long before the modern Hawaiian flag. British Navy Captain Paulet burned it when he gained control and superiority of Hawaii back in 1843. The flag's center is a shield bearing a coat of arms, including a kahili, the original Hawaiian royal standard and two paddles, signifying the many voyages and traditional spirit and unique culture characteristics of the Native Hawaiians. Kahuna Creations longboard adapts the Kanaka Maoli shield into its flag along with colors of black, depicting the earth; aqua green, representing the sea; blue, representing the sky; and palm shadows, representing the islands. Kahuna Creations longboards just released a new addition to their longboard lineup called the "Bombora." This longboard is huge! Specifically designed and produce for land paddling, the Bombora was modeled and derived from one of their surfboards and it sure shows. | | | | | | | Longboards - Complete Longboards - Stella Longboards | | Stella longboards are produced and sold by SDS skateboards. Based in southern California, Stella longboards have built a reputation for mid to highend quality at a very fair price. The Stella longboard decks use hard rock Canadian Maple (often referred to as Sugar Maple) which is the standard in most longboards and skateboards. Stella longboards are great for the beginner to intermediate rider or the value conscious rider who's on a budget. Each Stella complete comes with their custom wheels, trucks and SDS steadfast bearings. The completes come fully assembled and ready to ride out of the box. New for this year, Stella has introduced a few new impressive longboards to their lineup. The Double Dose, which is a drop through and drop down design featuring the very popular and revered Paris trucks. Along with the Double Dose, they introduced a Bamboo drop Through longboard called the Chakra which also sports the Paris trucks. The Global Cruiser, which is an all bamboo construction kicktail cruiser that features a dynamic Stella graphic on the top sheet that is sprayed with clear grit to let the wood grain and graphic shine through. Another interesting addition to their longboard quiver is the Duke which is available in a foam top. Why a foam top you ask? Well, you can ride without shoes! Whether you're young or old, this squirrelly, nimble cruising machine is perfect for campus riding or maneuvering through busy city streets. Whether your looking for a drop down, drop through, kicktail, cruiser or a carving pintail shred machine, there is a Stella longboard waiting to curb your specific itch. Inertia is especially excited about the "Double Dose," which combines the drop through and drop down design. It's important to keep this design symmetrical in our opinion and we think Stella hit at least a triple on this board. Inertia has been selling Stella longboards for almost 5 years and has been loyal to the brand due to its value driven cost and high quality. In that whole time, we've only received 2 warranty issues on the same longboard which Stella solved immediately. It was a drop through design where the trucks were not mounted correctly. Stella has a stellar crew that is friendly and customer oriented. We can't say enough about Stella longboards, we always welcome longboard companies that go above and beyond on quality and craftsmanship and keep the price attainable for people like us who are always on a budget. Stella has been integral in helping grow the longboard industry to what it is today. After standing in wet rotting boots in front of the drum sander making skateboards smooth, the chief board builder's feet started to fester and almost fell off. In order to make ends meet he took a fattening desk job while seeking out an apprentice with all the vigour and patience to build the world's greatest skateboards. By miracle, mister Tim Brodesser, a master woodworker from Germany walked through the front door of our kick ass factory in downtown Ville Emard, the hippest part of Montreal known equally well amongst those from Verdun who need to get their video lottery fix. Mr. Brodesser has since helped completely rebuild the shop from the cracked foundation up including adding another 10 inches to the Z axis on our CNC machine, and now he's building our great boards. So far his feet have not started to rot, maybe if you buy some of our boards we will be able to turn the heat on in the finishing room. | | | | | |
