Bamboo is one of the most sustainalbe building materials on earth. Bamboo is superior to Maple in many ways but not all.   Longboards - Drop Through Longboards Drop Through boards are becoming the most popular longboard design in the industry. The drop through gets you lower to the ground for more stability and also helps with sliding.   Longboards - Drop Down Longboards The drop down longboard category is very similar to the downhill category. Drop down boards are for higher speeds and downhill racing. Drop down longboards are also easy to push so if you ride flat terrain often, this style may work well for you.   Longboards - Longboard Trucks The trucks on your longboard are very important. The good news is that many cheaper truck companies copied the tried and true design of the Randal reverse kingpin trucks so chances are, the quality should be ok. Many new longboard truck companies have arisen in the last couple years and it seems we see a new one pop up every time we pick up Concrete wave magazine. Most of the truck companies have taken Randal's original design and tweaked it just a bit. Round out the angles like Paris, Beef up the hangers like Gulwing or changing the footprint of the base plate and adding some curves to the hanger like Bear. These are minor changes that can add stability and strength or change the riding characteristics. We are not putting down all longboard truck companies other than Randal; the evolution of the truck is a necessary progression and one we like to follow. Our favorite new longboard truck company is Navigator trucks. Not only do they look kick ass, they can handle much abuse. The Navigator's coupled with your favorite drop through board can be a match made in heaven. They do have a taller profile than most and are a couple ounces heavier than most, we think these are insignificant and will be riding the navigators for some time. Thanks for stopping by!   Longboards - Longboard Wheels Longboard wheels have progressed in many ways in the last decade. Abec 11 has been at the front of the line along with Orangatang wheels. Longboard wheels are available in many sizes ranging from 62mm to 97mm for different styles of riding. The most popular sizes are 65mm, 70mm and 75mm. 65mm wheels are becoming less and less popular, they were once very common but have proven unsuitable for most riding styles. The 70mm wheel is the most popular due to it's all around freeride size. It combines the right height, width (contact patch) and weight. The 70mm wheel is most suitable for pintails, kicktails and drop through longboards. More and more longboard wheel companies have arisen with subtle changes similar to the evolution and progression of the truck companies. The most significant characteristic you must address is the edge of the wheel. This comes into play with whether or not you will be sliding on your board. If you plan on sliding, then choose a wheel with a rounded corner. If you want more slalom like control, choose a 90 degree profiled edge. The flat edges will slide but they need to be broken in a bit. Some longboard wheel companies like Orangatang stone ground some of there wheels so they don't need broken in and will slide buttery smooth from day one. We have many different longboard wheels from many companies available in many different sizes, colors and designs.   Longboards - Longboard Bearings Longboard bearings take all the weight and abuse of your board. Don't skimp on bearings.
